Info

In this three credit on-line course, participants will learn what digital literacy is and how to incorporate wikis, podcasts, blogs and Web 2.0 into their classroom. The current system of education has shifted. Students and perhaps our own children, communicate in ways that are completely different than ours, i.e. Facebook, texting, Instagram and Twitter thus, create a communication gap. Bringing technology into the classroom can close the gap. Students need to know how to communicate appropriately with the tools of their generation. Digital literacy prepares students for a digital post K-12 world. (Bloise, 2013) Wikis, podcasts, blogs and Web 2.0 are examples of these forms of communication. With the use of technology, the role of the teacher changes from one of the sage on the stage to the guide on the side.
