This course is designed to help k-12 educators gain a greater awareness of the many facets of diversity within their classroom and school community. A goal of this course is to help teachers create and maintain school settings that celebrate diversity and inclusion; thereby, creating a positive learning environment where students feel safe. Developing a positive learning environment and positive relationships impacts all students by setting a strong foundation for success. By reaching out to students in ways that are culturally and linguistically responsive and appropriate, students will be engaged. Equitable environments provide opportunity and access to ALL students promoting positive school culture and impacting overall educational achievement.
